Single Crystal Growth of SkutteruditeCoP3 under High Pressure
A newmethod to grow single crystals of skutterudite compounds is examined. Using a wedge-type, cubic-anvil, high-pressure apparatus, single crystals of CoP3 were grown from stoichiometric melts under a pressure of 3.5 GPa. Powder x-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis measurements indicate that the as-grown boules are a single phase of CoP3. The results suggest that CoP3 is a congru...
متن کاملHigh Pressure Single Crystal Diffraction at PX^2
In this report we describe detailed procedures for carrying out single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments with a diamond anvil cell (DAC) at the GSECARS 13-BM-C beamline at the Advanced Photon Source. The DAC program at 13-BM-C is part of the Partnership for Extreme Xtallography (PX^2) project. BX-90 type DACs with conical-type diamond anvils and backing plates are recommended for these expe...
متن کاملEfficient solutions for the far from most string problem
Computational molecular biology has emerged as one of the most exciting interdisciplinary fields. It has currently benefited from concepts and theoretical results obtained by different scientific research communities, including genetics, biochemistry, and computer science. In the past few years it has been shown that a large number of molecular biology problems can be formulated as combinatoria...
متن کاملCrystal experiments on efficient beam extraction
Silicon crystal was channeling and extracting 70-GeV protons from the U-70 accelerator with efficiency of 85.3±2.8% as measured for a beam of ∼10 12 protons directed towards crystals of ∼2 mm length in spills of ∼2 s duration. The experimental data follow very well the prediction of Monte Carlo simulations. This success is important to devise a more efficient use of the U-70 accelerator in Prot...
متن کامل"Poor-men" High Pressure Cell for Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography
High-pressure has been shown to be a powerful tool for the study of polymorphism in molecular systems, and the effect of pressure on soft organic systems is an area of great current scientific interest (Boldyreva [1], Oswald et al. [2]). Most of the research performed at the high-pressure beamline at the ESRF (ID30/ID27), however, has been confined to characterization of hard materials. Recent ...
